Andre Lee Ellis, a local activist, community leader,
and theatre director was honored as a recipient
of the 2016 Frank P. Zeidler Public Service Award
during a special ceremony in the Common Council
Anteroom on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Ellis has
worked diligently to improve the lives of young African
American men, while also investing in and improving
the community. His work on the northside
to help improve the lives of African American men
and boys, as well as his work to help beautify the
area of 9th Street and Ring, has won him much local
and national attention. Longtime local human
rights advocate Rose Daitsman was also honored at
