On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, the Village of Brown Deer hosted its official swearing in ceremony for its newly elected village officials. Among them were the village’s newly elected president Wanda Montgomery, and Nakia Spencer was sworn in as village trustee. Montgomery is the first Black woman elected as President in the Village of Brown Deer; she is also the first African American Chief Executive elected in Milwaukee County and only the second in the State of Wisconsin. Nakia is the 4th women of color on the board. The swearing in took place at the Brown Deer Village Hall, 4800 West Green Brook Drive and was presided over by Chief Justice Maxine White.
