On Saturday, December 25, 2021, Christmas Day, the Salvation Army hosted its annual Christmas Family Feast at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. Normally the Salvation Army would be serving a sit-down meal, with singers, gifts and Santa. However, due to the pandemic, dinner was curbside pick-up only. Everyone that arrived received a to-go Styrofoam box filled with turkey, ham, yams, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, green beans and dessert. All volunteers and staff were wearing masks and all CDC guidelines were observed.
“Christmas Family Feast is a Milwaukee tradition bringing together those in need and those of means for a day of food, fun and fellowship. While we can’t dine-in together this year, we still wanted to provide a meal for those who may need one,” said Major Steve Woodard, Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County. Christmas Family Feast is sponsored by Sysco, All Saints Cathedral, AT&T, Brewers Community Foundation, Cedar Crest Ice Cream, Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hunger Task Force, Jammin’ 98.3, Milwaukee Courier, Milwaukee County Transit System, Molina Healthcare, Pick ‘n Save, Cream City (WI) Chapter: The Links Incorporated, The Milwaukee Times, WE Energies Foundation, Wisconsin Center District, and WNOV.
