On Friday, December 25, 2020, the Salvation Army was proud to present its 31st Christmas Family Feast. The annual event typically serves more then 8,000 people at a sit-down meal inside the Wisconsin Center. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it looked a little different this year.
Instead of the sit-down option, all the meals were takeout and curbside pickup only at the Wisconsin Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., in Milwaukee.
“Christmas Family Feast is a Milwaukee tradition bringing together those in need and those of means for a day of food, fun and fellowship. While dine-in together was not possible this year, Salvation Army still wanted to provide a meal for those who may need one,” said Major Steve Woodard, Coordinator for The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County.
Everyone that arrived received a to-go styrofoam box filled with turkey, ham, yams, mashed potatoes, cornbread stuffing, green beans and dessert. All volunteers and staff were masked and all CDC guidelines were observed.
Christmas Family Feast was sponsored by AT&T, Landmark Credit Union, We Energies, Hunger Task Force, The New Pitts Mortuary, Cedar Crest Ice Cream, Pick ‘n Save, Milwaukee County Transit System, and 98.3.
