On Saturday, July 5, 2025, Kim Robinson, a former police officer and forensics supervisor with the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD), celebrated his 68th birthday at home with family, friends, and members of the community. Some notable community leaders, including former Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Artison, Dennis Biddle, Reuben Harpole, and Linda Jackson Conyers, joined in the festivities. Joe Jordan, Christopher’s Project, and vocalist Damone Rose provided entertainment for the birthday celebration.
After retiring, Kim took on a new role as a free lance photojournalist, working with Milwaukee’s black press and media organizations all around the country. He’s a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the League of Martin as well as a board member of the International Committee for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods of the Modern Movement (DOCOMOMO).
Kim’s father, Alonzo Robinson, made history as Wisconsin’s first black registered architect, designing many urban churches and businesses. One of his notable projects is the downtown Milwaukee Fire Department building, which was renamed the Alonzo Robinson Milwaukee Fire Department Administration Building in the fall of 2021. He also created the first black business district, Central City Plaza, a historic landmark located at 6th and Walnut Streets. Congratulations to Kim and his family for their exceptional service and contributions to the City of Milwaukee.
