Milwaukee Press Club celebrates 134th Anniversary with ‘Meet the Media’ event

On Thursday, December 5, 2019, the Milwaukee Press Club celebrated its 134th Anniversary with a “Meet the Media” event the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St. As part of the event celebrity bartenders were on hand to serve the thirsty patrons of the event, each working 15 minute shifts.
Among them were (from left) TMJ4’s news anchor Charles Benson; Milwaukee Times Weekly Newspaper’s Publisher Lynda Jackson Conyers; and community photojournalist Yvonne Kemp.
The Milwaukee Press Club is the oldest continuously operating press club in North America, and possibly the world. The club was to be a means of bringing together newspaper professionals, as well as elevating the profession in general.
Since its founding, the club has expanded its membership to include journalists working in other media, editors, publishers and individuals with a specific professional interest in the press.
