On Friday, October 27, 2023, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Milwaukee Branch hosted its annual Freedom Fund Dinner, downtown at the Baird Center 400 W. Wisconsin Ave. The Freedom Fund Dinner is the annual signature event for the NAACP which is the only fundraiser for the branch. The funds generated by the event allow for the furthering of the organizations mission to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries, who is a professor, historian, author and documentary filmmaker.
