On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Employ Milwaukee held their first fundraiser luncheon at the University Club Milwaukee. The goal of the fundraiser was to support summer youth employment, training, reentry programming and more. It was well attended and the guest speaker was Billye Aaron the wife of the late Hank Aaron. Billye Aaron has been an educator in the Atlanta Public Schools and at Spelman College, Morehouse, Morris Brown College and South Carolina State University. In 1968, she became the first African American woman in the Southeast to co-host a daily talk show, Today in Georgia, and later hosted a weekly talk show, Billye, on Milwaukee’s WTMJ-TV. The Donald “Don” Sykes Community Impact Award was given to the Social Development Commission (SDC) Director and CEO Dr. George P. Hinton.
