
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., School, located at, 3256 N. 3rd St., celebrated Black History Month with the school’s 33rd annual “African American Male & Female Teach-In.” This year’s theme “What Are You Doing for Others?” spoke to the need of the Milwaukee community and this nation to begin nurturing a generation of youth to be prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. Each February, Dr. King School invites community leaders to the school to talk about what they do and how they give back, setting a positive example for the students.

This year’s group of guest speakers included Jasmine Aleem, Joy Parks, Byron Little, Shanee Jenkins, Dianisha Croft, Lauren Williams, Ayiesha Domino-Brown, Sharon Lucas, Andrea Bester, Nicole Goins, Daisha Moss, Rita Cox, Sheila Payton, Terrell Morgan, Dr. Latish Reed, Genyne Edwards, Dina Abercrombie, John Fletcher, Ajamou Butler, Yaeshae Price, Larissa Lampkins-Cobb, Mickey Critton, Jordan Revels, and Karen Thomas; and this year’s Dr. MLK, Jr., Ambassadors were Katie Butler (8th grade), Nariya Morton (5th grade), Airiel Hicks (5th grade), and Shamaria Smith (8th grade). Also as part of the days festivities an Image Award was given to Angela Wigley for her continued commitment to the school and community.
