About 200 guests and well-wishers converged at the intersection of West Burleigh and 24th streets for an honorary street naming ceremony in celebration of Dr. Lester L. Carter, Jr., R.Ph., on May 18, 2018. Dr. Carter has operated a store at the same location for more than 50 years. “Dr. Carter is a trailblazing Black business owner who has dedicated his life in service to others, while improving the health of the community,” said 7th District Alderman Khalif Rainey. “This honorary street sign naming gives us an opportunity to pay homage to a man that has had such a positive impact on our community.” Pictured are (from left) Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Dr. Carter and Alderman Rainey
