Thursday, August 2, 2018, Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs along with Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett and many other supporters, kicked off a week -long celebration of African American art and culture here in Milwaukee with the celebration of the ‘6th Annual Bronzeville Week,’ August 4, 2018 and running until August 11, 2018.

The week long festivities began on August 4 with the ‘3rd Annual HaRUNbee 5K Walk/Run’ and continued at Pete’s Fruit Market with a brand new event called “Live on King Drive,” which featured music and family friendly entertainment. Things continued Sunday, August 5, 2018 with the Black Arts and Cultural Festival.

Also as part of Bronzeville Week a special street renaming ceremony will be held at North and 4th Street, renaming North 4th Street to N. Vel R. Phillips Ave., to honor the late civil right activist.
