Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority celebrates ‘6th Annual AKA Day at the Derby’

On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the Diamond Jubilee Pearls Foundation of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter celebrated ‘6th Annual AKA Day at the Derby’, the Foundation’s signature fundraiser. Held annually on the first Saturday in May this years’ event coincided with the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, ‘AKA Day at the Derby’ and was held at The Preserve at Silver Spring, N56W21318 Silver Spring Dr.

The event included a silent auction, a best-dressed contest, entertainment, food, and the live streaming of the running of the actual Derby held in Louiville, KY. In addition to awarding scholarships, the foundation also financially supports all of the community service projects sponsored by Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter, including AKA Day of Service, Family Fun Day, Childhood Hunger, United Negro College Fund Walk/Run and numerous other service projects.
