
The Diamond Jubilee Pearls Foundation of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter is a 501 (c) (3) organization, established in 2003 to provide high school and college scholarships to students in the city of Milwaukee. “AKA Day at the Derby” is the Foundation’s signature fundraiser. Held annually on the first Saturday in May to coincide with the Kentucky Derby, ‘AKA Day at the Derby’ includes a silent auction, entertainment, food, and the running of the actual Derby. In addition to awarding scholarships, the foundation also financially supports all of the community service projects sponsored by Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter including AKA Day of Service, Family Fun Day, Childhood Hunger, United Negro College Fund Walk/Run and numerous other service projects.
Approximately 102 members of Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter, are Foundation members. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 to students of all ages.
