The top graduates from high schools across Milwaukee Public Schools were honored Thursday, May 26, 2016, by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors at the Board’s regular May meeting.
Valedictorians and salutatorians from the MPS Class of 2016 are off to diverse destinations ranging from the Air Force Academy and Alverno College to Marquette University and Milwaukee Area Technical College to Jackson State University, the University of Chicago, the University of Southern California, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Washington University in St. Louis and more.
This year’s graduates are completing their MPS experience as the number of MPS students taking college-level courses has grown to more than 4,000 for the current school year, up about 25 percent from 3,200 in the 2013-14 school year. In addition, eight MPS high schools were recognized nationally by U.S. News and World Report and the Washington Post, up from seven in the previous year.
