On Friday, March 2, 2018, Lowell International Elementary School celebrated “Read Across America,” at their school located at 4360 South 20th Street. Each year the National Education Association sponsors a nationwide reading event to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and to promote reading to children. Each school invites local guest celebrities, politicians, athletes and other volunteers to read at their school. This year Lowell invited local Fox6 Now news anchor Ted Perry and chair of the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission Board Steve DeVougas to read to their students. This year’s theme was “A Bed Time Story,” and all the students in the classes were encouraged to dress in their pajamas. The event was coordinated by Lowell International Elementary School’s Support Teacher/IB Coordinator Morgan A. Conyers. The school’s principal is Pandora Bedford.
