Milwaukee Urban League Guild celebrates Read Across America Day

 

The Milwaukee Urban League Guild and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Grade School celebrated the Read Across America Day campaign on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Local business and community leaders, students, and parents volunteered to read with school children. The event was kicked off with special appearances from Mayor Tom Barrett, MPS Superintendent Dr. Gregory Thornton, Milwaukee Urban League president and CEO Ralph Hollmon (left photo).

Milwaukee Urban League Guild members Candice Woodring and Michelle Crockett collaborated on the reading activity with Principal Christlyn Fredrick Stanley (right photo). Read Across America Day is sponsored by the National Education Association and commemorated annually nationwide during March.
