On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Milwaukee celebrated its 47th Annual Juneteenth Day on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. Despite a rainy and overcast day, thousands turned out to take part in the festivities which included a parade, vendors, music, food, and live performances. The Milwaukee celebration is put on by Northcott Neighborhood House, Inc., and is the oldest known Juneteenth celebration in the country recognizing the ending of slavery in the United States.
