March 20, 2025

Talented Milwaukee singers, dancers, actors, and choreographers presented this year’s production of “We Are the Drum.” This annual high-energy musical revue was an exciting evening of music and dance in a community setting. Performances ran from February 23–March 3, 2025, at Milwaukee Marshall High School, at 4141 N. 64th St. This year’s theme was “The Rhythm of Our State.”

Students of all ages from several Milwaukee Public Schools performed in this year’s show. Many have extensive training and talent, and the event also included emerging young artists with no prior singing or dancing experience. Show organizers set high standards each year to offer a theater experience that rivals a Las Vegas production.

“We Are the Drum” is a community program offered by CAPITA Productions, a nonprofit organization with the mission of bridging cultural gaps, uniting Milwaukee area youth, and offering a constructive outlet for creative expression. The name CAPITA stands for City at Peace in the Arts.

CAPITA organizers and directors have been recruiting students, hosting rehearsals, coaching students, and preparing for the show for several months. Talented staff members and volunteers bring their energy to develop the talents of children who participate. CAPITA does not charge fees for children who take part in the show.
