On Friday, March 11 through Sunday March 13, 2022, CAPITA Productions presented “We Are The Drum 2022,” at Milwaukee Marshall High School, 4141 N. 64th Street. “We Are The Drum” is now in its 28th season and these were the first live performances since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous year’s show had been held virtually online. The show is a musical journey of the Black experience in America with 50 performers ranging in age from 3 to 93 years old. This year’s production, “Remember, Honor and Inspire,” centered on COVID-19 and the summer uprising stemming from the death of George Floyd in 2020 as well as the murder of Emmett Till, nearly 67 years ago. CAPITA’s mission to be a theater for and by the people. Anyone who wants to explore their acting, singing and dancing chops can audition and be in the play, which embodies the spirit of community theater.
