Ms. Viola Hawkins was honored on Monday, October 12, 2015 by Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans (WIARA) at the Italian Community Center located in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. WIARA is a non-profit senior organization with more than 100,000 members, dedicated to educating and advocating for older Americans. This year they are celebrating ten years of advocacy. Hawkins has been a long-time community activist and an advocate for seniors. Hawkins received this honor on her birthday. President Mike Pyne of WIARA presented a plaque to Ms. Hawkins and remarks about her community service. More than four hundred seniors attended the luncheon.
