On Sunday, October 17, 2021, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) celebrated their “40th Annual WAMI Awards and Hall of Fame” inductions at the Turner Hall Ballroom. This year WAMI celebrated 40 years of music excellence by inducting four legendary music acts from the great state of Wisconsin. Among this year’s honorees were the legendary R&B act The Esquires. The Esquires formed in 1957 and was originally made up of siblings Gilbert, Alvis and Betty Moorer. Though the original members have passed, the children of the original members still perform under the name The Esquires II. They accepted the award on behalf of their fathers and performed several songs including the Esquires #3 hit “Get On Up.”
