Milwaukee says good-bye to church and community leader Bishop Sedgwick Daniels

On Sunday, November 19 and Monday, November 20, 2023, Holy Redeemer Institutional Church of God in Christ said good-bye to Milwaukee’s Bishop Sedgwick Daniels at his home-going celebration at the church, 3500 W. Mother Daniels Way. Bishop Daniels was 64 years old and died on Sunday November 12, 2023. The celebration was a 2-day event with people from all over the country in attendance. Everyone who spoke had great stories to tell about their life experience with Bishop Daniels, some sad and some inspirational; there were tears and laughter. “Bishop was a good man. I have known him for more than half of my life,” said Green Jackson Jr., Elder at Good Samaritan Westside Community Church, who was ordained by Daniels. Elder Jackson said Daniels was an icon. “You can’t fill the shoes of a man of character like Bishop Daniels. So he taught us to be who we are, to continue to strive for excellence, and to continue to seek knowledge. And that’s what we all should continue to do.”

Church members, elders and elected leaders celebrated Daniels, his contributions to the church, feeding the hungry, giving people homes, and educating children. Bishop Daniels was a positive force in this city and he will be truly missed.
