On Tuesday, March 22, 2022 , the City of Milwaukee Common Council hosted their “17th Annual Girls’ Day at City Hall.” Students engaged in stimulating discussion that both empower them to became future leaders, and introduce them to a career path in public service. This year, Girls’ Day returned to an in-person format. As part of the festivities The Vel R. Phillips Trailblazer Award was given to Elizabeth M. Coggs (left inset photo) and Victoria Tatum received the Girls’ Day Scholarship Award (right inset photo).
The event was hosted by the five women serving on the Milwaukee Common Council, the largest number in the City’s history: Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, Alderwoman Chantia Lewis, Alderwoman Nikiya Dodd, Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic and Alderwoman JoCasta Zamarripa.
