On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Henry David Thoreau School families and the community celebrated Women’s History Month. This month is dedicated to reflecting the often-overlooked contribution of women and girls around the world. At Thoreau School, they learned about current issues affecting women and girls, also to discover ways to help empower them worldwide. Thoreau School appreciates everything and they gave special thanks to all the women who volunteer and help the school all year long. Principal Paula Jackson, Ms. Allen, Parent Coordinator Lisa Turner along with her mother-in-law Frances Turner, guest speaker father-in-law Pastor Harold Turner (inset) and other guest speakers Pastor Ellen, Ms. Beverly, Mrs. Molex and many other community members, members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Phyllis Spence, Bea Emmerson, Vickie Turner Estes, Elnora Ellis Johnson, Lenora Brown and photographer Yvonne Kemp. We salute all women and girls who are making history around the world and especially at Thoreau School.
