Five shot, wounded by gunfire during vigil for Milwaukee teen

September 16, 2021

Milwaukee police say five people were wounded near North Sherman Blvd. and Burleigh St. on Monday September 13, 2021 at the scene of a candlelight vigil for a teenager that was fatally shot earlier in the day.

Officials say the gunfire rang out shortly before 8 p.m. The shooting victims include two 15-year-old Milwaukee girls, a 64-year-old Milwaukee man, a 30-yearold Milwaukee man, and a 35-year-old Milwaukee man. All suffered non-fatal gunshot injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment.

A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed shortly after midnight Monday near Sherman and Burleigh, Milwaukee police said. The victim was located at the scene and was unable to be revived by first responders.

It’s not believed any arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.

Anyone with any information on the homicide or the quintuple shooting that happened at the vigil is urged to contact Milwaukee Police at 414-935-7360 or Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or P3 Tips App to remain anonymous.

In a statement released by Milwaukee Alderman Khalif J. Rainey he stated:
