Christ The King Baptist Church marked its 40th Founders Celebration with a series of memorable events, including a Black-Tie Gala and Pastoral Retirement on Friday, July 18, 2025, and a Farewell Service for Pastor John W. McVicker, Sr., on Sunday, July 20.

The Black-Tie Gala, held at Discovery World in Milwaukee, saw an impressive turnout of nearly 550 attendees from both within and outside of Milwaukee. The event was a grand celebration of the church’s rich history and its impact on the community.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025 the sanctuary of the church was filled beyond capacity as congregants gathered for Pastor McVicker Farewell Service. Pastor McVicker, who has served the church faithfully for 40 years, delivered a heartfelt sermon titled “A Legacy of Faithfulness,” based on John 10:41 CEV. In his message, he reflected on his tenure and always strived to be clear saying, “Jesus is Lord, not me” and “Like John’s ministry, I didn’t perform any miracles, but everything I said about Jesus is true.”

Pastor McVicker and his wife, Marilynn, have relocated to Georgia to be with their daughter and grandchildren. The congregation expressed their deep gratitude and love for them, celebrating their legacy and profound impact on their lives. Like their theme, they were “Faithful to the Finish.”
