Men will be able to get the resources, information and inspiration they need to become more effective dads at the 8th Annual Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit.
The two-day event will be held Friday and Saturday, October 4th and 5th at Destiny Youth Plaza located at 76th and Good Hope on Milwaukee’s Northwest side. This year’s Fatherhood Summit is stressing the theme “Changing Milwaukee through Male Empowerment”. Organizers believe that by creating strong fathers, they will also make stronger families and stronger communities.
The Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit is being coordinated by City of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s office and the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative in partnership with the Social Development Commission. It will provide a Health, Job and Resource Fair, access to Milwaukee County Child Support case workers and Driver’s License Recovery staff, and information on the Affordable Care Act.
A variety of informative workshops will also be presented to fathers, all with the overall theme of helping men overcome obstacles to gain better control of their lives. Personal mentors will also be available on site to help participants maximize their time and energy at the Summit. A Grandfather Celebration Friday night will single out grandfathers for their positive role in the raising of the next generation.
The Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit is free and open to the public. Online preregistration is encouraged by visiting www.cr-sdc.org or www.MilwaukeeFatherhood.com. Registration will also be offered at the door on the days of the Summit.
