On Friday, October 4, 2019, Black Lens MKE hosted the world renowned kick-off party for the 2019 Black Lens Film Fest, part of the MKE Film Festival, at The Cooperage, 822 S. Water St. In 2014, Black Lens was created with a singular focus: to spotlight the incredible work of African American filmmakers by bringing their films to the Milwaukee Film Festival. These filmmakers explore stories and topics that are rooted in the Black community but are relevant to a variety of audiences. The kick-off party featured presenters, refreshments and live entertainment as attendees were treated to a sneak peek at some of the incredible films that will be part of this year’s Black Lens.
