MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary Hosts ‘Summer Toy and Gift Giveaway’

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary (MBHS) brought joy and community spirit to Milwaukee’s 53206 neighborhood during its “4th Annual Summer Toy & Gift Giveaway.” Its sanctuary at 2461 W. Center Street was transformed into a lively celebration where children, teens, and families gathered to welcome the summer season with hope and excitement. The giveaway featured toys, games, and summer essentials designed to help young people in the Amani neighborhood start their summer on a positive note. Volunteers, donors, and community partners worked together to ensure every child left with something special.

Organizers emphasized the deeper purpose behind the event, explaining that MBHS created the giveaway, for the children and teens of the neighborhood, noting that summer often brings increased violence and that many young people in low income communities experience trauma and do not always feel valued.
