Milwaukee Public School’s (MPS) high school juniors and seniors can start training for a career now. We Energies is looking for students to train as a line mechanic intern or an apprentice gas technician or design engineer. Get paid while still in high school!

Line Mechanic Intern: Maintain power lines and climb electrical poles. Learn about electric distribution, basic electric theory, safety, and materials and operations.
Gas Technician Youth Apprentice: Maintain equipment, repair leaks, and troubleshoot problems with natural gas lines. Understand how natural gas is used in homes and businesses.
Design Engineer Youth Apprenticeship: Work 900 paid hours and learn electrical planning, natural gas design, and engineering concepts. Design construction prints and see them implemented on job sites. Earn up to 12 college credits transferable to MATC. Must be a high school junior.
How to apply
High school juniors and seniors—be sure to complete these two steps (in any order):
1. Complete the We Energies internship application by October 11, 2024, at https://app.smarterselect.com/programs/60720.
2. Visit your College and Career Center to get a permission slip to attend We Energies Demo Day (dates vary by school). Learn more about the program and see line mechanics and gas technicians in action.
The final deadline to apply for all programs is October 11, 2024.
