September 12, 2024

Immunizations are required under state law for children in school or childcare. Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) families, if your children are behind on their vaccinations, plan to attend one of the free upcoming immunization clinics, held with MPS’s clinic partner, the City of Milwaukee Health Department.

The free clinics for all MPS students will be at:

• Bethune Academy, 1535 N. 35th St., on Friday, September 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Greenfield Bilingual School, 1711 S. 35th St., on Friday, October 4, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
• Northwest Health Center, 7630 W. Mill Road, on Friday, October 11, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
• Southside Health Center, 1639 S. 23rd St., on Saturday, October 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Required vaccines such as polio; measles, mumps, and rubella; diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis; and others will be given.

Other vaccines available for students at the clinics are COVID-19, flu, hepatitis A, and HPV, but they are not required for entry to school.

Exceptions to the requirements are limited. For details about exceptions or to check immunization records, families should contact their health care provider or the Milwaukee Health Department at (414) 286-6800. For other questions, contact Tashanda Edelen, MPS Manager of Health Services, at (414) 438-3539 or edelentn@milwaukee.k12.wi.us.
