Milwaukee Recreation now hiring part-time Youth Sports staff

Milwaukee Recreation is hiring part-time Youth Sports staff this winter. Qualified adults and MPS and non-MPS High School Students (ages 15 and up) are encouraged to apply.

The winter sports season runs from Dec. 4, 2021 to March 26, 2022. Youth Sports leagues operate on Saturdays.

Available Positions for ages 15 and up:

Youth Sports Monitor
Pay: $9 per hour

Monitors are the direct service providers of the youth sports program. They are responsible for maintaining constant surveillance of their assigned areas. Monitors float to various areas of the building as needed assisting patrons and maintaining a safe environment. Applicant must be available Saturdays. Hours are dependent on team registrations.

Youth Sports Scorekeeper
Pay: $9.50 / $12.00 / 14.50 per hour

Pee Wee, Elementary, and Middle School Basketball Scorekeepers are responsible for player attendance, recording game statistics, and managing the game clock during Youth Sports basketball games (Grades 1st – 8th). Prior knowledge of basketball is desired, but not required. Applicants must be available Saturdays. Pay rates are determined by the grade level that the applicant is assigned to score keep. Hours are dependent on team registrations, and the applicants attendance at paid training dates.

Elementary Basketball Official
Pay: $15 per hour

An Elementary Basketball Official is responsible for enforcing the basketball rules, ensuring that all games start on time, and providing a safe and positive environment for participants (grades 1st – 5th). Applicant must have prior knowledge of basketball either as a participant, coach or official. Applicant must be available Saturdays. Hours are dependent on team registrations, and attendance at paid training dates.

Dates for Elementary Basketball Official Training Dates:
Thursday, November 4 and 11/ 6-8 p.m. (Hi-Mount Community School – 4921 W. Garfield Ave.)
Saturday, November 13 / 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Madison HS – 8135 W. Florist Ave.)
Thursday, December 2 / 6-8pm (Vincent HS – 7501 N. Granville Rd.)
