On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts honored Aruna Halala-Vishudh, a teacher at Samuel Clemens Elementary School, with a surprise visit to her classroom to acknowledge her long-time support of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. Ms. Halala-Vishudh was surprised during class with a plaque, flowers, and tickets to an upcoming show at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Ms. Halala-Vishudh has been an MPS educator for 19 years. During this time she has diligently worked with students teaching them about the life and beliefs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
