Northwest Funeral Chapel sponsored its annual Back-to-School Book Bag
Give-A-Way at the Northwest Family Activity and Event Center, 4034 West
Good Hope Road on August 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In addition to free
book bags and school supplies for children grades 1-8, The Milwaukee Times
donated more than 400 books to help promote literacy among the attendees.
Refreshments, games and free health care information and screenings were also
offered. Other community partners included: the Milwaukee Police Dept., the
Milwaukee Fire Dept., Milwaukee Health Services, Northcott Neighborhood
Services, Faith Hope Ministries, Black Nurses Association, Aurora Health
Care, Sam’s Club, Walgreens, Hickman Academy, Milwaukee Boys & Girls
Clubs and The Milwaukee Times. Northwest Funeral Chapel is owned by J.C.
