Beckum-Stapleton Little League Celebrates Photojournalist Yvonne Kemp’s Birthday

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, local photojournalist Yvonne Kemp celebrated her birthday with her family and friends at the Milwaukee Brewers Helfaer Field with the Beckum-Stapleton Little League. Singer Jackie Caldwell & the Esquires II were the entertainment; Dave DeGrace was the announcer for the game; Negro League Player Dennis Biddle threw out the ceremonial Pitch and MLB All Star Outfielder Larry Hisle shared his baseball knowledge with the Little League Players. Jewell Carter helped organize the event, served refreshments and food was served by Lorraine and James Gill of the Milwaukee Brewers Media Dining Room Staff.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson was in attendance and presented Yvonne with a Proclamation and declared August 13th, 2026, as Yvonne Kemp Day. Yvonne is photographer for the Milwaukee Brewers, the Milwaukee Community Journal and the Milwaukee Times Weekly Newspaper. Nearly a decade and a half later, Yvonne emerged as one of the city’s most prominent photographers, having built an impressive resume and reputation.
