Fresh off the All-Star break, the Milwaukee Brewers came back to American Family Field for a three-game home stand against the Colorado Rockies which took place July 22-25, 2022. As part of that series Friday, July 22, the Brewers hosted the popular Negro Leagues Tribute Game. Negro Leagues Alumni players threw out the ceremonial first pitches and hosted an autograph signing.
The pre-game ceremony honored the impact of the Negro Leagues with a meaningful “Pass the Bat” ceremony where the RBI Athlete of the Month, Deundra Lathan, Jr. (center), collected signatures on a bat gifted by five-time All-Star and 2013 National League MVP Andrew McCutchen (right). The signatures represent the past, current and future generations of African American players and their impact on the game of baseball. The evening was presented by Aurora Health Care.
