On Saturday, February 28, 2026, City at Peace in the Arts (CAPITA Productions) presented “We Are The Drum 2026,” at Marshall High School, 4141 N. 64th St. “We Are The Drum,” is an annual performance that incorporates African American history and the performing arts in an educational, enlightening, and entertaining stage production. During the performance, an intergenerational cast of talented students and community performers help to highlight African American history (the bitter and the sweet) and renditions of some of our popular past and present-day entertainers.
This year a virtual version of this performance has also been developed for classroom use. Live performances can be augmented with a virtual version of “We Are the Drum” with accompanying lessons plans. The virtual show is enhanced to be adaptable for a variety of age levels and aligned with Department of Public Instruction’s learning objectives. The virtual program can also be made available for community groups.
There will be four additional showings of this magnificent show. The shows will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets for all shows are $20 and available at https://www.capitaproductions.com/tickets.
