Viola Hawkins honored for long-time advocacy of seniors

violaMs. Viola Hawkins was honored on Monday, October 12, 2015 by Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans (WIARA) at the Italian Community Center located in Milwaukee’s Third Ward. WIARA is a non-profit senior organization with more than 100,000 members, dedicated to educating and advocating for older Americans. This year they are celebrating ten years of advocacy. Hawkins has been a long-time community activist and an advocate for seniors. Hawkins received this honor on her birthday. President Mike Pyne of WIARA presented a plaque to Ms. Hawkins and remarks about her community service. More than four hundred seniors attended the luncheon.
