The Women’s Auxiliary and the State Laymen of The General Baptist State Convention of Wisconsin, Inc., hosted their annual collaborative banquet on Saturday, December 15th at Antioch Baptist Church, 2033 W. Congress Street to raise funds for convention youth of member churches to travel to St. Louis, MO to participate in the “Bible Bowl” and the annual basketball competition. Money raised from the banquet is earmarked for travel, lodging and other expenses. According to Deacon Albert Brown, president of the State Laymen, more than 45 youth have taken the trip to St. Louis to compete. The Women’s Auxiliary and the State Laymen, in hosting the banquet, are making every attempt to reach out to youth in the community by providing extracurricular activities, tutoring, serving as mentors, coaching Bible skills and assisting in the development of young men with sound Christian character. The guest speaker was Rev. Leon Pitts of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church.
