On August 20, 2024, in a massive show of force coinciding with the roll call vote at the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz took the stage in front of a packed house at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, WI – in the same venue where Republicans had held their national convention the month before.
Both candidates spoke to the crowd of 18,000 attendees during the event warning Wisconsin voters of the dangerous consequences of Project 2025, Trump’s far-right radical agenda; and reminded Wisconsinites that Trump has “no regrets” when it comes to overturning Roe v. Wade, and stripping millions of American women of the right to life-saving reproductive health care.
The excitement of the crowd at the event was proof as to how much expectations about the presidential election this coming November had changed within the past month, since President Joseph Biden made the decision not to run for re-election.
Some of those in attendance waited more than three hours in line to get through security, but very few people appeared to leave the rally early. In addition to being the host city for the 2024 Republican National Convention, Milwaukee held the 2020 Democratic National Convention; however, that convention was mostly held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
