Police have arrested person of interest in Highland Park, IL parade shooting

July 7, 2022

Robert E. Crimo III, the person of interest in the Highland Park, IL parade shooting has been captured by police.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4, 2022, a North Chicago police officer spotted 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III at Route 41 and Buckley Road, police said.

Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen said a police officer pulled Crimo over about 5 miles north of the shooting scene, several hours after police released the man’s photo and an image of his silver Honda Fit, and warned the public that he was likely armed and dangerous.

Police declined to immediately identify Crimo as a suspect but said identifying him as a person of interest, sharing his name and other information publicly was a serious step.
