On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Northcott Neighborhood House hosted the “33rd Annual Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant,” at Northcott Neighborhood House, 2460 N. 6th Street. These young scholars were judged in categories such as poise, personality, creative talent, and formal wear; their essay on the 2024 Juneteenth theme, “Our History, Our Culture, Our Village;” and an intellectual interview question. This year’s winners are Little Mister Juneteenth 2024 Mason Donald; Little Miss Juneteenth 2024 Brionna Clemmons; 1st runner up Mister Juneteenth 2024 Marvell Thomas; Mister Juneteenth 2024 Matthew Goss; 2nd runner up Miss Juneteenth 2024 Azaria Giboney; 1st runner up Miss Juneteenth 2024 Gianna Cooks; Miss Juneteenth 2024 Zoe Chambers, receiving the crown from Miss Juneteenth 2023 Adaobi Nnamuchi; Fox 6 News Anchor Mary Stoker-Smith and Northcott Neighborhood House Executive Director Tony A. Kearney, Sr. This year’s event chairs were Felicia Williams, Sukari Fears and Tammie Chipley; and this year’s pageant judges included Dominique Bell, Samuel Brown, Jr., Benita Dills, Charita Gordon, and Debra Love-Webb.
