Thursday January 12, 2023, The Milwaukee Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) hosted their installation celebration for their 2023 president and officers at Four Points Sheraton, 8900 N. Kildeer Ct. The local chapter was chartered in 1980 and has played an active role in Milwaukee as a forum for advocacy and implementation strategies that address health equity issues impacting underserved and underrepresented populations. They work to accomplish this through collaboration with private and public agencies and the community. They are also committed to excellence in nursing education and research, and over the years have awarded more than $500,000 in nursing scholarships.

Pictured at the swearing in are incoming officers including member-at-large JoAnn Lomax; committees coordinator Evelyn Merriett; president Edna Hudson-Kinzey; secretary Martina Ware; and vice-president Karina Brown. The Milwaukee Chapter of the NBNA is one of 125 local chapters that comprise their national body. The NBNA was organized in 1971 as a non-profit organization and represents approximately 200,000 African American nurses from the USA, Canada, Eastern Caribbean, and Africa.
