On Saturday, July 17, 2021, local residents of all ages – youth, adults and neighbors – were working together to create several community-created paintings in four crosswalks along North Avenue in the Harambee community to show their love for their neighborhood and their desire for safe streets. Developed by Cross/ Words/North, a unique community-based art project that brings together student and families from nearby St. Marcus Lutheran School, neighbors living in the Harambee and Riverwest neighborhoods near North Avenue and several community organizations, to create four pieces of art that embody Empowerment, Love, Unity and Diversity.
