Tuesday, September 3, 2024 was officially back-to-school day for students in the Milwaukee Public Schools district. Students at South Division High School were welcomed back to the classroom with a mascot and cheerleaders. A crowd full of MPS staff was cheering the kids on as they came through the doors. Much like the students at South Division High School, which is one of many schools in the district to undergo improvements thanks to federal ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds. For the 2024-25 school year, Milwaukee Public Schools has moved from two school calendars to a single, district wide calendar. The Milwaukee Board of School Directors voted Dec. 21, 2023, to adopt the single calendar.
