Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing, LLC welcomes art lovers and artists alike

August 23, 2018

Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing, LLC is located at 4233 W. Fond du Lac Ave. Hours are M-F 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.. The gallery was created to bring affordable, custom framing and contemporary African American art to Milwaukee and its surrounding communities, and to the online community.

Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing, LLC co-owners Billie Nash, who is originally from a small town outside Selma, TN and Fred Robinson, a Milwaukee native who grew up on Brown Street, encourage guests to visit their gallery, get comfortable with a cup of coffee or tea and spend some leisurely time enjoying the gallery’s ambiance. The two have been offering local artists an opportunity to display their work and providing frame and matting options that will beautify your art and remain within your budget.

“We felt it was very important that we have an art gallery to bless the beauty of our community,” Nash said. The concept allows people from the community to see themselves represented in art and art of interest to them, she added.

This outstanding gallery includes about 3,300 square feet of display space and features custom-framed open and limited edition prints, art on canvas, and some originals along with a private collection of African masks and artifacts. The majority of the art featured on the gallery walls is contemporary African American art mixed with fine art, landscapes, florals and abstracts, religious and historical art. Greenwood Park Gallery and Framing also assists local artists to prepare to display their work and buys art from local artists.

Even a reasonably-priced print of a piece of art expertly framed and matted at a reasonable price can completely change the environment of an entire room, according to Robinson who does all of the custom framing himself on site.

“As a small kid, I lived in Corpus Christi, Texas in a subdivision named Greenwood Park,” Robinson said. “When it came to naming our gallery, we felt the name Greenwood Park welcomes everyone.”
