On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Spectrum awarded the Greater Milwaukee Urban League (GMUL) with a $40,000 Spectrum Digital Education grant for its Microsoft Mastery classes and digital literacy education opportunities.
“Organizations like the Greater Milwaukee Urban League play a critical role in our communities; we are excited to see the benefits that this grant program provides,” stated Spectrum’s Communications Manager Chris Caporale.
Greater Milwaukee Urban League’s digital literacy initiative builds upon the success of its Microsoft Certification program with the addition of Digital Foundations— a complementary course focused on essential computer skills. Students in the Digital Foundations course gain the knowledge and confidence to use technology effectively, ethically, and responsibly, preparing them to transition into more advanced training. Classes are offered to youth, adults, and seniors on a rotation basis, and the coursework can be completed at the students’ own pace.
“We are deeply grateful to Spectrum for this generous grant, which supports our continued commitment to advancing digital education across Milwaukee,” said GMUL President and CEO Dr. Eve M. Hall. “In today’s tech-driven world, these courses serve as vital pathways—empowering participants with the skills they need to strengthen our community and access high-quality, well-paying jobs.”
Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced, “When you have partners who care about lifting this community up, we can achieve great things, and that, exactly, is what Spectrum is doing here with this really incredible investment.”
This latest grant is the third Spectrum Digital Education Grant awarded to Greater Milwaukee Urban League, bringing Spectrum’s total support for the organization to $110,000 over the past six years. Spectrum Digital Education awarded $1.3-million to 66 organizations in 2024.
