Dalvery Blackwell receives honorary degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin

On Friday, May 17, 2024, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) hosted their annual commencement ceremony at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Degrees were conferred upon more than 300 students who graduated from MCW’s School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy and the School of Graduate Studies. MCW also conferred seven honorary degrees. One of these was to Dalvery Blackwell, co-founder and executive director of Milwaukee’s African American Breastfeeding Network (AABFN), was recognized with an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree for her commitment to addressing the injustices in healthcare and maternity care practices, as well as for her advocacy of safer births and breastfeeding equity.
