The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the promotion of Katina Shaw to the position of vice president – community relations and family liaison.
“Under Katina’s leadership, we have greatly expanded the organization’s presence in the community through player initiatives, donations and community engagement programs,” said Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger. “Katina started with the organization more than 12 years ago and has steadily earned advancement through her commitment to excellence. This is an exciting day for us and we’re grateful for Katina’s efforts in growing our outreach programs.”
Shaw joined the Brewers organization as a community relations assistant in 2006 after spending the previous seven years as market manager for the American Diabetes Association. She was promoted to community relations director in 2009 and named senior director in 2011.
Shaw will continue to oversee the Community Relations Department, working directly with players and coaches as the liaison between the front office and the community. As part of her role, Shaw is responsible for the creation and management of community programs such as the “Beyond the Diamond” outreach initiative, the coordination of activities and programs for Brewers wives, and all alumni relations initiatives. She also plays a leadership role in the Brewers diversity and inclusion programs.
“I am honored and grateful to be a part of an organization that is dedicated to making a difference in the community,” said Shaw. “The Brewers trust me to raise awareness, encourage unity and enhance our presence in the community with the support of staff, players, wives and alumni.”
Away from Miller Park, Shaw is a member of various boards in the Milwaukee community, including the Wisconsin Humane Society, Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, Kyle’s Korner and One Accord Foundation. She’s also a member of Rotary Club of Milwaukee and VISIT Milwaukee Multi-Cultural Committee.
In February 2012, Shaw received the Milwaukee Times Black Excellence Award, an honor that recognizes individuals who are making a positive difference in the community.
A native of Milwaukee, Katina and her husband, Jermaine, have a son, Jamar, a grandson, Jeremiah, and terrier, Tank.
