Not a joke, nor a hoax. The Indiana company that purchased the rights to Boston Store and other former Bon-Ton brands plans to open three brick and mortar locations in the Milwaukee area before the start of the holiday shopping season.
Fred Hulls, a representative from Boston Store’s public relations department, made the announcement Monday, September 17, 2018, on WISN 12 NEWS’ midday newscast.
“It is such a loved brand by its customers, that we’re looking at ahead of the holidays two stores in the Milwaukee metro area,” Hulls said.
A third store is planned for Brookfield, he added.
Hull declined to release any other information, adding that leases and contracts were still being negotiated.
Merrillville, Indiana-based CSC Generation Holdings Inc., relaunched the websites for Bon-Ton’s store brands, including Boston Store and Younkers, on Friday, September 14, 2018, after a bankruptcy judge approved a sale of Bon-Ton’s intellectual property assets for $900,000.
That development came just two weeks after the department store chain shuttered its remaining brick and mortar stores in southeast Wisconsin.
The new company urges former employees to send emails to the new owners via the website, as they hope to hire many of the former associates for their new locations.
